Dochus Non-alcoholic Scottish Botanical
Brand reimagining and bespoke bottle design for non-alcoholic Scottish botanical beverage Dochus Highland Bothy and Smokey Isle.
CLIENT BASED: UKDochus is a brand that will always make me smile. It’s where my entry into the world of non-alcoholic beverages began. Today I’ve gone full circle and revisited the brand. The non-alcoholic sector is more established and mature, and I’ve been tasked to elevate the brand to a more premium position, design something unique, that will be equally at home in Waitrose or in duty free gifting.
“The stock glass was beautiful, with a real premium weight, but it’s domed surface were a nightmare to apply labels to”
Dochus has its roots in the beginnings of the non-alcoholic beverage movement in the UK. As one of the first offerings from Spirits of virtue, it’s true to say it was a learning curve of how to approach both presentation and on pack language.
For a category in its infancy, there where many challenges, not least getting the consumer to understand what the product was all about, amplified further when the original liquid name ( non-alcoholic Whisky alternative ) was challenged by the SWA. Factor in Covid and the challenge of securing your brands bottle while the prices of glass stock soared, lessons were learnt and pivots made.
I inherited an already realised client concept, tasked with fitting way to much copy, multi language, NFT tables onto the worlds smallest labels ( this still make me shudder). The stock glass was beautiful, with a real premium weight, but its domed surface were a nightmare to apply labels to…
Finally I now have the opportunity to right those wrongs.
